farthest point from town
00:00 / 03:49

It was 1984. A long dating relationship had ended. I was also not at my best as a pro tennis player. A change of scenery perhaps? Two months in Europe was the antidote. The star I later reference, who I had not yet met, would become my wife Sylvie. ©2012

let it go
00:00 / 04:51

I once went into a meeting with a closed mindset, ready for conflict, but had a change of heart during the encounter. I came home feeling considerably lighter, sat at the piano, and wrote about the experience. Performed by Shawn Welch (vocals and guitar). ©2012

intoxicatin'
00:00 / 03:40

I had a conversation with a music insider who shared that creating songs was "intoxicating...in a good way." Who knew that word would spark a look back at an old flame? Performed by Shawn Welch (vocals and guitar). ©2012

on the side of the road
00:00 / 03:59

One summer evening while driving home from work, the corner of our street was blocked. A family man's life was tragically cut short by a drunk driver. For the longest time, these bouquets (& others) were placed at the bottom of our street sign. Performed by Shawn Welch (vocals and guitar). ©2011

first step's the hardest
00:00 / 04:24

The motivation for this song was the courage of a 16 year old in our tennis program, who was chronicled on NBC's TV show "The Biggest Loser." Sanjana's nickname would become "Sunny," and you'll hear a reference to her name near the end. ©2012

if
00:00 / 04:46

While browsing in a Target store, I randomly came across 2 italicized quotes in Steven Tyler's book "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?," reminding me of an adage that gave birth to this song. Performed on guitar by Shawn Welch. Vocals by Billy. ©2011
