While sitting on a beach in Turks and Caicos, a middle aged "belonger" of the island nation walked by each morning eagerly promoting off-shore adventures. Sale or no sale, "mahvelous" was his enthusiastic response. ©2014

After a rather turbulent day at the “office," I came home scratching my head. Over a glass of wine, Sylvie asked me how I was feeling. “Lookin’ for peace” was my response. Later that night, the words began to flow. Performed on guitar by Shawn Welch. Vocals and Piano by Billy. ©2012

Written for her birthday in 2018, I return to the first date I had with Sylvie in 1984. Though we did not speak the same language, as we looked up our words in a dictionary, I had this feeling our lives were about to change. ©2018

Shortly before NBC’s whirlwind visit to our tennis program for “The Biggest Loser,” I paused to reflect on life in general. Contemplating the title’s question, I explored both the uplifting and darker side of human behavior, before recovering with a hopeful message. ©2012
